How We Work
If you’re someone who has failed every other diet program, we can empathize.
By addressing the biological, psychological and behavioural factors that are stopping you from getting rid of those stubborn pounds, we can help you get to the root cause of your barriers and develop the tools you need to thrive and discover your ultimate health.
What This Means
In the first part of any program, your food will be standardized using either the Ideal Protein program or a macro diet to eliminate food as a reason for weight gain from the equation. That way we get a chance to talk about the REAL problem - why are you actually not losing weight?
Behavioural
In the case of weight loss, making adjustments to your behaviours can be your first step to long term success.
These are things like your choices, habits and the ‘diet’ you feed your mind (ex. your Instagram feed, the books you read, etc).
Another important factor in discovering how you behave is taking a look at who you surround yourself with. This is an incredibly important component to your success so expect to talk about your friends and family and how they impact your eating and views on health as well as any cultural expectations and traditions that have been passed down.
Psychological
Once we’ve gotten a better understanding of your behaviours, we’ll begin to tackle the next layer of ‘stuff’ that is holding you back.
This includes factors like your binging behaviours, if you suffer from depression or anxiety, any cognitive patterns that you learned from childhood and other trauma.
These psychological barriers are what can cause you to yo-yo diet and cycle through the same patterns so depending on your needs, we’ll be implementing treatments such as CBT skills and training, motivational counselling and trauma-informed therapy to help you overcome these issues.
Biological
Though we’ll continue to work through the behavioural and psychological stuff, sometimes we get faced with resistance by default because of an underlying biological barrier that requires medical interference.
This is when we’ll address things like metabolic resistance, thyroid, insulin, hormonal factors like estrogen or progesterone levels, vitamin or mineral deficiencies and menopause (if applicable).
Once we’ve discovered the main issue, we’ll prescribe any necessary medications in this phase. Please note: our goal with this step is to only prescribe you what you need.
